Lite + Brite: 62 Surrealistic Austin Events 10/25
Hello, what’s up, and welcome to the Lite + Brite newsletter.
Our Austin Halloween events spreadsheet has grown by leaps and bounds since we released it last week. If you haven’t peeked at it in a few days, might we suggest that you check back in? You might find opportunities to celebrate Halloween with pigs or goats or horses or ugly dogs or birds of prey. Maybe you could win a costumed dodgeball tournament, or a horror movie trivia contest, a pumpkin carving contest, or a good old–fashioned costume contest. You could hit up parties themed after Twister or Salvador Dalí. Hone a skill, like figure drawing (only all the figures are in costume) or short story writing (only all the stories are horror stories). Get active with some trick-or-treating on the hike + bike trail, cemetery walking tours, or spooky archery. Listen, there are too many options and this week’s newsletter is coming out late enough as it is. Scroll down for details on some events, and check out the spreadsheet for the rest of them.
Let’s do fun stuff!
—Leila + Brian

OUR STUFF
We had a special Halloween edition of No Lights No Lycra on Wednesday and you can listen to a live recording of the mix on Mixcloud or on streaming services like YouTube, Apple, or Spotify. Scroll down for the full tracklist, and we’ll be back at 3rd Eye Meditation Lounge on November 13th. Grab a ticket in advance here.
No Humans Allowed was off a couple weeks while Brian is travelling, but will return on Tuesday for a night of fully synethesized terror. You can listen live on Kpiss.fm. If you can’t wait, you can listen to three older spooky episodes: Spectral Processing Unit, They Only Come Out at Night, + ASS1M1L8T0RS.

Recent weeks found us watching brass bands at HONK!TX, watching the eclipse at Bobo’s Snack Bar, and watching dancing forklifts at The Way of Water at Onion Creek. Follow Lite + Brite on Instagram to keep up with our adventures. And come chat with us and the rest of the L+B community on our Discord server!
ABOUT US
How do we choose which events to feature?
Honestly, it’s pretty random. We might include anything in Austin that we, personally, would conceivably want to go to, generally excluding normal concerts, comedy shows, and movie showtimes because there are many other good resources for finding those. (We especially recommend Showlist for live music, The Darker Side of Austin for goth and metal stuff, and the 60+ Weirdest Things in Austin for exactly what it sounds like). This list is by no means exhaustive; it’s just stuff that caught our eye this week. If you have an event that you want us to consider including, send it over.
Who are we?
We are Leila + Brian. We make this newsletter. We do our own events, most often No Lights No Lycra (which is on hiatus but will resume), + also BYOT, a party where we share very good YouTubes (here’s a playlist from the last one). We go very hard seeing bands at SxSW (here are playlists of our favorites from 2024). We once got called “local Austin couple” by KXAN. We do some other stuff here and there. We love going out to creative events in Austin, and we want you to join us. Visit us at liteandbriteatx.com, and support us on Patreon if you like what we do.
