Lite + Brite: 29 Leonine Austin Events 7/28
Hello, what’s up, and welcome to the Lite + Brite newsletter.
As you know if you’ve ever gone to our website (it’s OK if you haven’t; it’s mostly just a landing page for people to sign up for this newsletter, which is where we keep the good stuff), then you know that we specifically reference Kate Bush-focused events as something we will always include in our listings (because we have long deeply loved her music and her whole vibe). Delighted to report that this weekend will in fact feature a Kate Bush event, so we are once again delivering on our promises.
We’re also getting the return of Austin cultural mainstay We Luv Video after they lost their old venue a couple years back; the return of beloved comedy-wrestling show Party World Rasslin’ after they lost their venue; and the return of Tiny Minotaur quests (at a temporary venue as they’re still finishing up construction on their permanent home). The Little Gay Shop will be returning, but first they have to move venues, which means a little gay moving sale. Elsewhere, pigs will be smashing watermelons, water guns will be “breaking the internet” (maybe), and our pals at Art Island are bringing Burning Man to you.
Plus our own dance party in the dusk/dark, No Lights No Lycra, is tonight, in just a couple hours! Come shake off the week with us!
If you’re not already a subscriber to this newsletter and you want to be, click here. We do one newsletter a week, usually on Fridays, plus this bonus monthly edition around the start of each month. Please support us by contributing to our Patreon and by forwarding this email to your friends who enjoy things like listening to music and leaving the house sometimes.
Let’s do fun stuff!

OUR STUFF
TONIGHT, No Lights No Lycra returns to West China Tea House after nearly a month since our last NLNL. We’ll be continuing to dance through the dusk into the dark, and we’ve been using some creative lighting ideas and sunset-appropriate tunes. We’ll be back to 2nd and 4th Thursdays next month. You can listen to a playlist of music from June’s edition here or scroll to the bottom of this newsletter for a track listing.
Regular readers of this newsletter may be familiar with Club Dongle, the imaginary robots-only nightclub that was one time not imaginary and was at dadaLab, but is ordinarily just a topic for Brian’s radio show, No Humans Allowed. This week he returned for the 11th installation of that series, playing big room italo and electro for robots to dance to. Listen to C11UB DONGLE on the KPISS archives, or scroll down for the full tracklist + some of the goofiest episode art yet. NHA is live every Wednesday at 6pm on kpiss.fm.

ABOUT US
How do we choose which events to feature?
Honestly, it’s pretty random. We might include anything in Austin that we, personally, would conceivably want to go to, generally excluding normal concerts, comedy shows, and movie showtimes because there are many other good resources for finding those. (We especially recommend Showlist for live music, The Darker Side of Austin for goth and metal stuff, and the 60+ Weirdest Things in Austin for exactly what it sounds like). This list is by no means exhaustive; it’s just stuff that caught our eye this week. If you have an event that you want us to consider including, send it over.
Who are we?
We make this newsletter. We put on No Lights No Lycra every second and fourth Thursday of the month. We do some other stuff here and there. We love going out to creative events in Austin, and we want you to join us. Visit us at liteandbriteatx.com, and support us on Patreon if you like what we do.
