Lite & Brite Newsletter – Brian’s Bday Edition
Hello, what’s up, and welcome to the Lite + Brite newsletter. We haven’t been in touch in eight weeks because the primary purpose of this newsletter is to tell you about fun, creative, DIY events going on around Austin, and obviously none of that is a thing right now. There is, however, a secondary purpose to this newsletter, which is to tell you about all the stuff that we are up to. And that purpose remains as relevant as ever! Quick run-down on what we have coming up for you (virtually, of course): DJ Brian Blackout’s birthday party tonight No Lights No Lycra every Monday No Humans Allowed every Wednesday Scroll down for details. And if you’re not already a newsletter subscriber, click here. We’ll be back in touch in another eight weeks / once there’s a vaccine. Also, please support us by forwarding this email to your friends who enjoy things like listening to music and doing things. —Leila + Brian https://liteandbriteatx.com/DJ Brian Blackout’s Birthday PartyWe’re celebrating Brian Blackout’s birthday with a special livestreamed dance party tonight on our Twitch channel. Also worth celebrating: our Twitch channel (which we use for No Lights No Lycra as well) just hit affiliate status so there’s a bunch of stuff we can now do we couldn’t do before. The dance party begins at 11pm ET / 10pm CT here. No Lights No Lycra is our weekly virtual dance party in the dark. From 8-9:30pm CT every Monday, DJ Brian Blackout is on Twitch, broadcasting his signature mix of indie, electropop, synthpop, disco, dusty rock + R&B records, regular funk, future funk, synthwave, new wave, many other waves, and much more live from his living room. Put it as a recurring event on your calendar or RSVP to the facebook event to get reminders. What is No Lights No Lycra? Austin’s weekly judgment-free, substance-free, high-impact dance thing in the dark. It’s a DJ night that’s not at the club, a workout that’s not at the gym, a personal meditation that’s anything but silent. Read more about us in the Austin Chronicle. Here’s what we played last week. If you missed hearing it live, we’ve put a playlist together on Youtube where you can watch + listen to all the songs. Check out the playlist and stream us live on Mondays here. Each week has a different robotic twist. Some recent ones have included robocallers, Japan, night driving, afrofuturism, cyberpunks, and robots in space. It’s an hour long and full of the synthiest side of italo, electro, synthpop + more. If you don’t catch it live, each episode is archived on the KPISS website and streamable below at your convenience. No Humans Allowed on KPISS The Austinites Behind the Curtain In the earlier days of quarantine, when we were young and ambitious, we ran a series of interviews with local event producers. We will do more of these when we get our acts together. There are plenty of amazing event creators in Austin who are very worthy of profiles.
